Responsible Growth & Fiscal Stewardship
Burnsville Center & Center Village Redevelopment
The Burnsville Center area presents one of our community’s largest redevelopment opportunities—and also one of its most complex.
Through my work with the Economic Development Authority, I’ve supported the City’s efforts to work with private property owners and create the planning framework necessary for long-term redevelopment.
I recently supported an update to the Center Village Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR), which examines environmental, transportation and infrastructure considerations across the approximately 426-acre study area. Keeping this planning work current helps Burnsville evaluate future redevelopment proposals using current conditions and community priorities.
Fiscal Responsibility in a Changing Economy
Rising construction, labor and operating costs have placed pressure on cities across Minnesota. Burnsville has had to respond the same way a responsible household or business would: carefully evaluate expenses, prioritize essential services and look for more efficient ways to fund long-term needs.
I remain focused on responsible spending, reducing unnecessary costs and finding funding approaches that distribute the cost of City services and major investments appropriately.
Fiscal responsibility isn’t about avoiding investment. It’s about making smart investments, planning ahead and respecting the taxpayers who ultimately pay for them.
